Listen for the Silence!

Today gave me a reminder in the most unexpected way—through my convertible.
As I pressed the lever to close the top, I wasn’t paying attention like I normally do. Usually, I watch closely, listen to the motor, and make sure everything is moving properly. But today, I was multitasking—pulling out my content creation gear from my bag.
Then it hit me: silence.
For a split second, I panicked. I thought something was wrong. I looked up, expecting the process to have stopped. But what I realized was this: there’s a natural pause between the initial closing and the final latch. A moment where the movement is so quiet, so faint, that unless you’re really tuned in, you wouldn’t notice it at all.
And isn’t that just like life?
We all go through seasons where things feel still. Silent. Where the progress we expect to see or hear just isn’t obvious. Maybe you’re in that pause right now—waiting on an answer, a breakthrough, or a new opportunity. It might feel like nothing is happening, but beneath the silence, movement is occurring.
Here’s the truth: the quiet before the storm doesn’t mean you’re unprepared. It means you’re being equipped. The silence is not absence—it’s alignment. It’s your preparation for the weather ahead. Just like that convertible top, the process may be quiet, but it’s still moving, positioning, and getting ready to lock into place.
The pause doesn’t mean the process has stopped. It just means you’re in between the start and the finish.
So—pause. Breathe. Trust. Listen to the silence. That quiet space is preparing you for the moment when everything latches into place.
It’s your time. Be encouraged.
