My Golden Lights!

My Golden Lights!

Be consistent.

Be kind.

Stand covered.

There are certain principles I carry with me—quietly, consistently, faithfully.

I call them my Golden Lights.

They guide me when things are clear… and especially when they are not.

Be Consistent

Right or wrong.

Consistency is alignment.

It’s when your actions, values, morals, and integrity all speak the same language—no matter who’s watching.

In my twenties, an attorney once shared something that stuck with me forever. He explained that he could defend a client who was consistent rather easily. If someone was doing something consistently wrong, they often didn’t realize it—and that behavior could be corrected. On the other hand, if someone was doing something consistently right, they were already standing on solid ground.

The real challenge, he said, is inconsistency—when someone knows right from wrong but chooses to treat people or situations differently. That behavior is difficult to defend because it lacks integrity.

That lesson stayed with me.

Consistency doesn’t mean perfection—it means truth in repetition.

Be Kind

This truth isn’t mine—I simply live by it.

Early in my career, while conducting water sampling in a school, I noticed a poster on the wall. Simple. Powerful. Unforgettable. It read:

“They may not remember what you said or what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel.”

Those words settled into me and never left.

They gave language to something I already felt deep down.

I’ve always appreciated how kindness reframes perspective. It slows us down. It humanizes moments. It reminds us that impact is emotional before it is transactional.

Thank you, Maya Angelou, for saying it best.

Stand Covered

Isaiah 54:17

“No weapon formed against me shall prosper.”

This scripture is one of my anchors.

Growing up, I learned something simple but powerful: there is sun after the rain.

I never chased the sun—it always found me.

That understanding matured into confidence. Storms do form. Winds do blow. Rain does fall. But storms are not here to take us out—they are here to teach us.

They are not losses.

They are lessons.

That principle is not just lived—it is biblical, grounded, and proven. When you know you are covered, you move differently. You stand taller. You learn instead of folding.

My Golden Lights

Be consistent.

Be kind.

Stand covered.

Storms may come—

they just won’t take you out.

And when the clouds pass,

the light will still be there—

golden, steady, and guiding.
