My Inner Elephant

People often assume that when you know a lot, it’s because you’re the smartest person in the room. Truth? I don’t credit what I know to being “smart”.
Here’s the truth: I’m not out here claiming to be the smartest person in the room — I just carry a little toolkit that works for me.
Here’s what’s in it:
1. I believe in process. Rushing ruins everything. I like steps — like cornbread needs the oven and not the microwave, I let things rise.
2. I listen. For real. Not the “uh-huh, I hear you” listening. I mean listening like I’m collecting puzzle pieces to complete the bigger picture.
3. I research. Google? Books? People? Yep. I dig in because surface-level answers don’t cut it.
4. I use all my senses — especially my favorite one: Common Sense. It’s my superpower. Underrated. Unmatched.
5. I remember experiences. Names? Eh, sometimes I blank (don’t judge me). But how you made me feel? What we went through together? The lesson that stuck? Oh, I remember. Like an elephant.
So yeah — I’m a little bit of a process-lover, a listener, a researcher, a common-sense warrior… and a part-time elephant.
It’s not about being “smart.” It’s about being intentional — about living with ears open, mind engaged, and heart tuned in.
That’s how I move. That’s how I know.
And if you see me squinting trying to remember your name — just know, I’ll never forget the experience.
